My Style: Tribal Vibes

Today's Look:  is all about rocking self-confidence.  After meeting at the Spring into Fashion show hosted by Phoenix Fashion Week a couple of months ago, I have kept in contact and have enjoyed collaborating with AshIey Lane.   I received this beautiful knit, leopard print skirt from Ashley Lane Company and carefully thought about styling it with a tribal necklace, lace-up sandals, and a flowing, black top.  An important element of this ensemble is the confidence—you have to own it.  In this outfit I feel edgy and yet comfortable.  I recommend soft knits for spring—look beautiful and move gracefully.  Be sure to check out more fashion, accessories, and fabulousness from Ashley Lane Company here:  AshleyLaneCompany.com.  Xoxo, Shelly

My Style: Denim on Denim

Today's Look:  shows how to stay casually chic while keeping warm in the winter.  First, I chose the light chambray top and dark denim jeans.  To contrast with the blue denims, I chose to wear a cozy camel coat.  Matching the camel coat's coloring, I chose studded, leopard print oxford flats.  I love how the sophisticated cut of the shoes compliments the playful print.  I accessorized with simple pearl earrings, sassy sunglasses, two rings, a bracelet, and a burgundy cross-body wallet for a pop of color.  Pulling it all together, I wore an infinity scarf featuring a tribal design including navy blue, olive green, light brown, and crisp white.

Fashion Tip:  When wearing a denim top with denim pants, for best results make sure the pants are a shade darker for contrast;  not only to distinguish the two from one another, but a darker shade on the jeans can be more flattering.

My Style: Little Black Dress

Today's Look:  is filled with sophistication and sprinkled with youth.  To start the look off, I chose the dress.  You could say it's vintage since it was passed down to me from my aunt.  When she gave it to me she told me it was an important dress.  It was her perfect LBD (little black dress) and held many magical memories.  I was thrilled to have been given it.  The dress is sleeveless with a heavy material that hangs nicely and sparkles like a starry night.  It's very pretty but a little long for my preference.  So, to update the modest dress and add a personal touch, I accessorized with a gray and silver belt at the waist to help shorten the dress, as well as add the glam factor.  Next, I chose the jacket.  I wanted something warm, fabulous, and longer length since it was a chilly, rainy day.  The black and grays in the animal print design went beautifully.  Since tights would have been somewhat conservative, I opted for sheer thigh-highs and platform boots to add some edge.  Finishing off the look, I wore silver hoop earrings, two silver rings, and a metallic clutch, all bedazzled obviously.  ;)

Outfit Details:  Coat by Potter's Pot at Basement Marketplace (Flagstaff, Arizona), Dress by Jump Apparel Co. (gift), Clutch by Melie at Black Hound Gallerie (Flagstaff, Arizona), Boots by Grey City at nastygal.com, Thigh Highs by Leggs Everyday at Sears (Prescott, Arizona), Hoop Earrings by Lucky Brand at Dillard's (Prescott, Arizona), Diamond Band by Brighton at Fancy That (Prescott, Arizona), "Love" Ring at Earth Bound Trading Co. (Flagstaff, Arizona), Belt was a gift.

Fashion Tip:  Every girl needs a perfect little black dress.  It's always classy, never trashy, and great for every occasion.

My Style: Never Growing Up

Today's Look:  is tomboy chic, featuring leopard-print, platform boots and a baggy beanie.  In honor of one my favorite tomboys, Avril Lavigne, I titled this post after her hit song "Here's to Never Growing Up."  To start the look off, I chose the shoes.  These shoes are crazy wild and I absolutely love them for their unique cut and sexy animal print.  Next, I chose light blue, skinny jeans and a flowy, black top.  I liked how the light blue acted as a complimentary color with the tans, oranges, black, and browns of the shoe.  To match the coloring of the shoes, I chose a baggy, beige beanie to add casual hipster into the mix.  Finishing off the look, I wore an over-sized, black purse, a cross pendant necklace, a studded bracelet, and two rings.

Outfit Details:  Platform boots c/o Charlotte Russe , Top by Lani California at Sage Brush Trading Co. Fashion Tip:  Beige beanies are a fall and winter fashion essential.

My Style: Young, Wild, & Free

Today's Look:  is youthful with edgy embellishments and a tight mini dress, wild with animal print and fringe, and free in the spirit of risk taking.  To start the look off, I first chose the form-fitting, leopard print dress and embellished, denim vest.  I really like how the dress is flattering and sexy with its hip-hugging cut, yet modest with a nice length and mock turtle neck.  The vest has a light acid wash finish which adds an '80s flare and metal studs on the collar that add an edge.  To match the vest, I chose a dark embellished belt and stacked bracelets.  For my recent birthday, I received my first pair of Jeffrey Campbell's and, of course, another Steve Madden purse.  I couldn't wait to wear the pairing, so I chose to wear my new taupe, Lita boots and taupe, fringe purse.  To finish off the look, I wore long, tarnished gold earrings and two rings.

Fashion Tip:  When worn the right way, a sleek leopard print dress can be not only stylish and appealing, but also flirtatious and fun.

My Style: Cut-Out Ankle Boots

Today's Look:  is all about the black, short overalls and cut-out, ankle boots.  To start the look off, I first chose my Guess denim overalls.  Since the overalls are high-waisted, I chose to wear a crop-top underneath.  I wanted the shirt to add excitement and sass to the outfit, but also wanted the shirt to match the black denim;  I chose my leopard print crop-top.  Since overalls are sometimes considered kiddish, I chose my buckle-embellished, black leather, and cut-out ankle boots to add some edge to the ensemble.  Finishing off the look, I chose my Coach side-sling purse, sparkly, silver bracelet, three rings, and skull, crystal earrings.

Outfit Details:  Overalls by Guess at guess.com, Top from Forever 21 (Tucson, Arizona), Purse by Coach at Dillard's (Prescott, Arizona), Boots by Steven Madden at 6pm.com, Earrings by Wet Seal at Blink (Anaheim, California), Rings from Aeropostale (Tucson, Arizona), Bracelet from Charming Charlie's (Tucson, Arizona.)

Fashion Tip:  Overalls are back!  When wearing long overalls, roll up the ends to add a boyfriend-pants vibe;  when wearing short overalls, make sure to pick the undershirt carefully.  The undershirt and accessories chosen to accompany the overalls can make or break the outfit.

Love ankle boots?  Below, I included a collage with an assortment of cut-out ankle boots.
