My Style: NYE Party Dress

All the single ladies. . . time to get dressed up for New Year’s Eve!  You can’t beat a little black dress with strappy heels.  This year I’m going to be indoors and, hopefully, dancing the night away, so I'm thinking of wearing this ensemble.  I added an ombré pleather jacket for when I’m outdoors because it’s frrrrrrreeeeeeezing in northern Arizona at night this winter.  To accessorize, I added a mixed-metal necklace with a feather motif and a fringed, embroidered purse.  A special touch comes with taking time with your hair.  I saw a picture of a model online with two small side braids, braided into one large one.  I mimicked the look and added some hair extensions to give the large braid some volume.  Of course, you know that I’m hella obsessed with rings and had to add some tarnished gold rings and a black French mani.  I hope you have a wonderful New Year’s Eve, full of crazy fun and lasting memories.  Happy New Year 2015!  Xoxo, Shelly

My Style: Others Follow Fall Lookbook

Today's Look:  is in collaboration with Others Follow (OF).  I was so excited when they approached me to participate in their Fall 2014 Instagram Lookbook.  You'll see a number of my fave bloggers on the OF Instagram during the next month; I highly recommend that you check out @OF_clothing.   First, you will love their clothes--total quality, incredible comfort, and chic style.  Second, you will adore their website, which happens to have one of the prettiest designs I have seen in awhile and that recommendation is coming from a critical graphic designer who wishes she had more time to up her game on her own blog :)  The photos, the poses, and the artwork are beautiful.  The dress I'm wearing is called the Agenda and it's a such a pretty geometric print that can be dressed up with heels or dressed down with opaque tights and combat boots.  The other article of clothing I selected was the Gavin jacket, a lovely plaid jacket with the softest sheared interior lining.  Absolutely wonderful threads!  Lastly, I added a pretty scarf, some funky shades, and an array of rings. Hope you enjoy these photos and the fall season that is upon us.  Xoxo, Shelly

Fashion Tip:  To stay warm in the cooler days of fall, you might try wearing opaque tights with boots when you wear a pretty dress.  Add a scarf and jacket and you can go into evening with comfort.

My Style: Field of Flowers

Today's Look:  showcases a beautiful ivory floral open back dress by Pink Blush.  I adore a dress you can dress up with a pair of classic pumps or look BA with combat boots and a choker.  This dress does it all.  The soft, flirty material flows as you walk, and the quality double lining adds modesty.  I definitely recommend checking out Pink Blush - I'm very impressed with them!  Use discount code "ARIZONAGIRL15" to get 15% off (valid through 8/15/14).  To style the look, I added some of my favorite Steve Madden "Troopa" boots with lace socks peeping out.  Matching the boots perfectly, I chose a dark brown faux leather purse, with a broken-in vintage feel, from T-Shirt and Jeans . Seriously, the vegan leather is soft like butter. The jewelry is the bomb with rings galore and a unique deer head bracelet.  The pretty pendant necklace was made by one of my favorite Esty artists Lesli Neal of Firesky7.  Last but not least, I wore a black choker and was ready for a glorious day.  As some of you know, I was traveling all last week to Canada for the Osheaga Music and Arts Festival thanks to Garage Clothing!  I had such an amazing experience and I am working on the blog post next.  I can't wait to share all of my memories and photos with you.  Hope you're enjoying the last stretch of summer as well!  Xoxo, Shelly

Fashion Tip:  Adding dark nylons to an ivory dress and lace sock ensemble adds a little mystery and grunge appeal.  I dare you to try it for fun.  I double dog dare ya.  ;)

My Style: Hipsta Please

Today's Look:  was taken literally in a windstorm.  Whoever said spring weather is perfect obviously wasn’t from Arizona.  Most of my photos show me frantically holding my hat on and my dress down.  Like most things in life, with the good comes the bad and vice versa.  Even though the wind made the photo shoot a little challenging, it also created beautiful movement of the material and my hair.  The over-sized cut and floral print of the dress look elegant and feminine while channeling influences from the ‘90s.  Lately, I have had the pleasure of featuring more nightlife outfits, but for this look I wanted to show more of a casual, everyday style.  I paired the comfy dress with my favorite shoes at the moment, black lace-up sandals, and a new black, floppy hat.  Lastly, I wore earrings I received as a gift from Ashley Lane Company during the Spring into Fashion Phoenix Fashion Show.  The rustic metal and exquisite vintage look of the earrings create the perfect finishing touch to the outfit.

Fashion Tip:  When you’re searching for that just right accessory, take your time and find the ideal item.  I searched and searched for the perfect black, floppy hat.  This hat from Shop Priceless met all of my criteria—good wool, wide brimmed, and a faultless fit.

My Style: Polka Dots & Chevron

Today's Look:  is all about a flirty, dotted chevron shift dress made of micro-satin.  Spring is definitely the season to wear fun dresses that flow, swirl, and attract.  This little gem is the perfect spring staple.  To complement the black polka-dotted, chevron print, I styled the dress with a black belt that has sparkly crystal embellishments.  The shoes are my one indulgent purchase for this photo shoot; how can a girl resist block heel sandals with ankle straps?  Literally impossible!  Besides feminine, flirty dresses and strappy sandals, spring is represented to me by two types of flowers--tulips and daffodils.  If you look carefully, you can see some of them peeking out in the background.  I couldn't resist showing off how beautiful the neighborhood looks in my recent photoshoots.  I hope you’re loving the season whatever it may be for you right now :) Xoxo, Shelly

Outfit Details:  Dress courtesy of Charlotte Russe ❤, Lipstick Cinnamon Swirl courtesy of N°7 (at Phoenix Fashion Week) ❤, Hairspray courtesy of Bumble and Bumble (at Phoenix Fashion Week) ❤, Heels from Zara, Purse and Black Stone Ring from Sage Brush Trading Co., Bracelet and Belt from Charming Charlie, Earrings from betseyjohnson.com, Gold Ring from Premier Designs

Fashion Tip:  Adding a thin waist-belt to a simple shift dress not only adds a personal touch, but it also compliments the feminine figure.
