My Style: Urban Boho

Relaxed and yet chic--that's today's styling.  I'm wearing a beautifully cut dress with amazing texture, an impeccable dress for office attire with heels and a blazer or a perfect dress for weekend fun with Converse sneakers and a denim jacket.  I added round sunnies, silver rings, and a woven backpack for a little bohemian flair.  Sometimes simple is best.  This shoot was taken while on a walk around a local lake to find some peace in the madness of the final stretch of this semester.  So close yet so far to summer and relaxation.  Keep on keepin' on, y'all.  Xoxo, Shelly

My Style: Monochromatique

In Arizona, the holiday season is in full swing, and I’m so enjoying being on winter break from university.  I have time to shop, decorate the Christmas tree, help address greeting cards, attend parties, laugh with great friends, and enjoy all the other seasonal activities.  As my longtime readers know, I love trying different styles and experimenting with fashion to see what I like and what I don't.    I'm pretty outgoing when it comes to clothes.  Lately, I have been having fun with the grunge style, but for this look I felt like going more city chic/street style.  Nothing beats a heather gray sweater hoody, coated denim skinny jeans with zipper detailing, a soft cotton white tee, and sleek leather booties.  To be city chic and yet totally comfortable is the goal of great street style.  Throw on a wide-brimmed fedora and a studded fringe purse and you are set for a fab, cozy day.  Now, I'm off to do more Christmas gift shopping. . . . Xoxo, Shelly

My Style: Puppy Love

New puppy

Today's Look:  combines different patterns and textures to create a casual-yet-chic look.  One of my favorite new pieces in my closet is this pretty lace and geometric print romper from JYJZ.  I paired the jumpsuit with these amazing ankle boots from Skechers (another beloved addition to my closet)—notice the basket weave detailing and stacked wooden heels—and an irresistible knit fedora hat from Urban Outfitters.  Lastly, I put on my shredded, over-sized denim jacket from Zara.  Now, you may have noticed I had a special guest make an appearance during this photo shoot.  Everyone, meet Eddie, my new puppy!  If you are a fan of the TV show Frasier, you can appreciate where Eddie got his name (even though he’s a Rat Terrier and not a Jack Russel Terrier—I say close enough.)  He is cute and rambunctious.  Let’s just say…sleeping is a thing of the past and so are clean floors.  haha Have a great day and let me know your tips on how to train a new puppy!  Xoxo, Shelly

My Style: Snakeskin and Stripes

Today’s Look:  showcases my new favorite pair of boots by Grey City.  Grey City is a shoe brand featuring unique designs that have quality and edge.  The company was started by two best friends and is headquartered in Seattle, Washington.  One of the partners, Kyle, happens to live in Scottsdale, Arizona, and I was lucky enough to meet up with him and see a few of their latest designs.  I was thrilled to collaborate with Grey City and highlight these awesome snakeskin and leather ankle boots.  I find that Grey City shoes are beautifully designed to every last detail.  While styling the look, I tried to keep in line with Grey City’s vision of fresh, relevant street style, with equal amounts of chic and cool.  First, I chose a sophisticated, simple striped shift dress and paired it with a distressed, oversized denim jacket.  Since the boots have a wild side, I selected bohemian inspired jewelry and a classy black purse.  Lastly in keeping with the edgy street style of the boots, we took the photos in Old Town Flagstaff down an alley with lots of brick and ivy.  Grey City shoes are sold at top stores like Free People, Revolve, and Lulu’s; hope you check the brand out.  I know you’ll love them as much as I do :)  Xoxo, Shelly
