My Style: Back to Reality

Today's Look:  is all about enjoying a beautiful spring day.  I started the outfit by thinking of what to wear around town on a sunny, breezy day and the transition from festival wear to street style.  Now that Coachella is over, city slickers and suburbanites must go back to their day-to-day lives, leaving their boho-decked out selves behind.  I personally love both festival and street style, so I decided to make a look that transforms into each, wearing a bright pink crop-top and black, shredded cut-offs and styling them a little differently.  For the festival look, I wore a floral headband that I made and it was meant to be because it matched this beautiful Ali & Kris pullover to a T.  For the street style,  I put on the pullover and removed the floral crown.  Simple yet effective changes transform the look.  Of course, I had to add some edginess by wearing black, cut-out ankle boots and black galaxy nails.  Now, one of my personal styling philosophies is that a girl's phone should always be as fabulously dressed as she is.  For the perfect finishing touch, I turned my iPhone into a fashion accessory with a beautiful "Mini Dot Pink" case by Clique Fashion Case & Skin Boutique.  Hope you all had a wonderful Easter!  Xoxo, Shelly

My Style: Walk Like an Egyptian

Today's Look:  emphasizes the bright gold of an Egyptian-motif top and edgy, shredded skinny jeans.  First, I chose the sweatshirt for light warmth on a sunny winter day and black jeans.  Next, I chose black, strappy cut-out ankle boots, and gold rimmed aviators.  Finishing off the look and to bring attention to the gold detailing on the top, I wore a gold watch, gold bedazzled bracelet, two gold rings, and gold pyramid-shaped earrings.

(Flagstaff, Arizona), Watch, Skulls Ring, & Gold Ring from Charming Charlie (Tucson, Arizona), Bracelet at Kohl's (Prescott, Arizona), Sunglasses at Black Hound Gallerie (Flagstaff, Arizona).

Fashion Tip:  Ripped and shredded jeans add a cool, grunge vibe to any outfit.  The distressed detailing makes a look more casual and edgy.

My Style: Clean Slate

Today's Look:  mirrors the fresh start and clean slate every new year brings.  For the first look of 2014, I decided bold and chic was the perfect way to show confidence and self-assurance.  To start the look off, I chose a black and white striped sweater and sleek, faux leather leggings.  Matching the leggings. . . what better way than to wear silver embellished, combat boots and a wool coat.  Finishing off the look, I chose silver sunglasses featuring a unique frame, two rings, a bedazzled clutch, and crystal stud earrings.

**  The year 2013 was truly a great one and major credit for that goes to my loyal readers and fellow fashionistas.  I would like to thank everyone who reads my blog, comments, and supports my passion for fashion.  Your kind words always make me smile!  And a special thank you to Ryan Chua and Charlotte Russe for collaborating with me.  I wish you all a very happy new year and I can't wait to see what 2014 has in store!  **

My Style: Tik Tok New Year's Eve

Today's Look:  celebrates lights, friends and family, and of course the New Year.  To welcome 2014 in, parties and gatherings are held across the globe.  Many girls ask:  what do I wear?  This post is to help answer that question.  New Year's Eve is all about celebrating and being a little crazy, so in my opinion, sequins are a must!  It's almost like a second Halloween, meaning you can have fun dressing up wilder than usual.  To start the look off, I chose a gold-sequined mini dress.  Gold reflects different colors while looking beautiful on its own.  Since it's winter, I couldn't just wear a mini dress and strappy heels or else I'd freeze.  For warmth and edge, I wore latticework printed tights, high heeled ankle boots, and a black leather jacket. Next, I wore an old party favor headband, featuring "Happy New Year" bedazzled in front of a bed of feathers, and a black sparkly mask to add mystery.  Finishing off the look, I wore big, tarnished-gold dangle earrings, two beautiful bracelets, and two tarnished-gold rings.

Outfit Details:  Dress from Arden B (Scottsdale, Arizona), Jacket from Express (Tucson, Arizona), Shoes from Charlotte Russe (Tucson Arizona), Tights by HUE at Dillard's (Prescott, Arizona), Earrings at Target (Prescott, Arizona), Mask from Earthbound Trading Co. (Flagstaff, Arizona), Rings from Aeropostale (Tucson, Arizona), Jewel Bracelet at Foot Fetish (Prescott, Arizona), Sparkly Bracelet is vintage, Happy New Year Headband was a gift at a party.

Fashion Tip:  For New Year's Eve, what the weather is like and where you'll be spending time during the festivities, meaning outside or inside, definitely help determine what to wear.  In my hometown, we have a tradition called "The Boot Drop."  Thousands of locals and tourists gather downtown to have a massive street party and to countdown till the New Year. At midnight, the lit-up boot drops and everyone cheers while fireworks fill the sky.  The only downside is the freezing night temperature. I suggest wearing high-heeled boots and a nice jacket along with something festive and sparkly.

My Style: Under the Mistletoe

Today's Look:  celebrates the deep reds of Christmas and the mystery/intrigue of black.  Over the holidays, families often gather together for a Christmas or celebratory feast to catch up and bond.  Every year, my family hosts at our house and we all exchange gifts and laughter.  It's normally an early dinner and casual-yet-nice attire is the norm.  This year, I wanted to wear something festive, feminine, and wintery-ish.  To start the look off, I chose a cozy, burgundy and beige striped sweater and black skater skirt.  For warmth, I chose knee-high burgundy socks and black combat boots.  I love the socks for their unique opaque-then-sheer design and ruffled top.  The boots are edgy yet sophisticated with a nice height and buckles.  Finishing off the look, I wore dark lipstick for drama, a black bedazzled headband for that innocent-school-girl kinda look, a sparkly, vintage necklace with matching earrings, and two rings.

(Flagstaff, Arizona), Stone Ring was a gift, Necklace & Earring were a gift from my grandmother (Vintage), Nail by Impress at Walgreens (Prescott, Arizona).

Fashion Tip:  Burgundy and black make a bold and edgy pair - perfect for fall and winter!

Wishing you all a wonderful holiday season and, if you celebrate Christmas, Merry Christmas!
