My Style: "O" My Gosh

Today's Look:  highlights The Home T's new tee design, which has the silhouette of the state of your choice inside the "o" of  the graphic printed "home".   The Home T was designed for two purposes—to show home-state pride and to donate to multiple sclerosis research.  I'm proud to wear a t-shirt showing my Arizona state pride but I'm even happier to know that a portion of all profits goes to finding a cure for MS.  To see my other Home T collaboration post click here.  To add edginess to this particular styling, I found this amazing ombré leather jacket.  As you probably already know, burgundy and black are my favorite duo; with the jacket, it was love at first sight.  Adding a warm beanie, black skinny jeans, and my fav chunky ankle boots, I felt just a few rings and my black cutout lace sunglasses made the outfit ready to kick it downtown.  Xoxo, Shelly

My Style: Kiss My Creepers

Today's Look: is about keeping it real.  A girl can't go wrong with black, shredded skinny jeans, studded black platform creepers, a sequined crop top, and a vintage denim jacket.  "Hey now, hey now, this is what dreams are made of . . . . "  (Yes, I did just quote Lizzie McGuire.)  Taking a beautiful sequined top and combining it with some urban street style elements adds some edge to beauty and you know I adore that combo.  Next, I tried a new hairstyle to spice things up.  I rarely fuss with my hair, but I always like trying new things.  I got the idea from Miley's bun obsession--it's contagious. Lastly, I accessorized with my usual favorites and enjoyed wearing a new ring and bracelet set.  Check out BKLYN Jewels for some unique, fresh jewelry designs.  Xoxo, Shelly

Outfit Details:  Top courtesy of AMIClubwear ♡ | Bracelet & Ring Set courtesy of BKLYN Jewels ♡ | Jeans from PacSun | Creepers from UrbanOG | Turquoise Ring from World Market | Earrings & Stone/Silver Rings from Earthbound Trading Company | Black Bracelet & Sunglasses from Hello Venice | Jacket is vintage

Fashion Tip:  I used to be conservative when it came to my jewelry--not more than one ring per hand and tiny, delicate bands and stones.  Now, I've learned how variety and mixin' it up can be soooo fleek.  haha  Ok, I just had to say "fleek" because someone used it in a comment on one of my latest posts and I had to look up the slang term on Urban Dictionary.  It means on point or cool.  Learn something new everyday.

My Style: Rockin' in the U.S.A.

Today's Look:  is about being patriotic in memory of veterans fallen in active duty.  To show your pride, wearing red, white, and blue is appropriate on patriotic holidays.  In addition to honoring our armed forces, for many families Memorial Day symbolizes the beginning of summer with BBQs and beach vacations.  I was invited to a BBQ and started styling this outfit with an amazing top from Charlotte Russe.  This black muscle tee crop top with an American flag decorated bow worked perfectly with burgundy, high-waisted jeans from PacSun.  I accessorized with a beautiful gold chain necklace and bracelet.  Rings and black ankle booties completed the ensemble.  I hope you all had a wonderful three-day weekend!  Xoxo, Shelly

Fashion Tip:  To tuck in or not to tuck in, that is the question.  For a leg lengthening effect, wear high-waisted jeans and keep the jeans neatly outside of your heeled boots.  Your torso will be pleasingly shortened while your legs grab all the attention.

In honor of Memorial Day, my family got together for our annual brunch to pay respects and show our American pride.  Lately, I have been addicted to Pinterest, so here are a few photos of patriotic decor for inspiration for next year!

My Style: Jungle Festival

Today's Look:  blends the wonder of the Coachella Valley Arts & Music Festival with the beauty of an Ali & Kris jungle-print blouse.  I styled the Coachella Festival look from head to toe, including a rosebud headband, fringe purse, burgundy cut-offs, and cut-out ankle boots.  This look is inspired by a combination of a 1960's flower-child hippie along with the current trend of jungle/animal print.  By the way, I wanted to thank you all for reading my blog and giving me amazing support over the past year.  Today is the one year anniversary of my blog!  Arizona Girl is officially one.  If you look at my first posts, the photos were taken using an iPhone 4 and in my backyard or in front of my garage.  I like to think I've come a long way.  You'll still see my back deck from time to time, but I hope my photographers will continue to use their Nikon and Cannon cameras for lighting adjustments and that I have time to drive to different locations for variety.  You all rock and thank you for a great year!  Xoxo, Shelly

My Style: Put A Bird On It

Today's Look: is tomboy chic with a dash of sophistication.  For this look, I collaborated with MakerWear, a fresh, new brand that manufactures hats designed by underground artists.  The hats are currently sold at selected Target stores.  I was very excited when I was contacted about styling and reviewing this awesome hat.  Along with sending me the hat, the company also compensated me with a Target gift card.  To win your own gift card, please see contest details below to be the new face of MakerWear hats!  For this photoshoot, I went on a day trip to the warm and beautiful Sedona red rocks and knew it would be the perfect backdrop.  To start the look off, I determined my color pallet;  the hat consists of navy, red, light blue, and yellow.  Since the hat is the emphasis and has an exciting design, I wore a soft cream colored blouse and taupe jeans.  Matching the skinny jeans, I chose suede/wood wedges.  Next, to compliment the colorful design in the hat, I wore a multi-color, beaded necklace and red clutch.  Finishing off the look, I tied a denim shirt around my waist, and wore stacked bracelets, gold studs, and two rings.

Outfit Details:  Hat courtesy of MakerWear available at select Targets, Earrings courtesy of Charlotte Russe , Blouse from Express (Tucson, Arizona), Pants by Bullhead Denim Co. at PacSun (Scottsdale, Arizona), Denim Shirt from Eddie Bauer (Flagstaff, Arizona), Wedges by Jessica Simpson at Dillard's (Prescott, Arizona), Clutch from Charming Charlie (Scottsdale, Arizona), Bracelets from American Eagle (Scottsdale, Arizona), Rings from Aéropostale (Tucson, Arizona), Nails by Impress at Walgreens (Prescott, Arizona), Necklace was a gift.

Product Review:  Put A Bird On It designed by J.J. Spectre for MakerWear
For me, wearing a hat is kind of a big deal.  I am picky on how they should fit and how they make my hair look.  This hat has an interesting 5-panel cut that is somewhat of a hybrid between a trucker hat and a baseball cap.  The design is unique in the sense that a girl or guy could rock it.  The material is quality, as well as the lining.  So, overall, the hat has great cut and design.  Honestly, I really like it!
