People's Choice #FashionFOMO Episode

Happy Tuesday my fashionable peeps.  My #FashionFOMO episode is officially here!  Back in October, I collaborated with VIMBY (Video In My Backyard) and People's Choice to film an episode on how Vanessa Hudgens's style inspires me for the People's Choice web series.  The prep for the filming included emailing back and forth, brainstorming how to show Vanessa's diverse range of bohemian style, and phone calls going over locations and script.  It was my first experience with a whole film crew, detailed script, and booked locations.  It was a total blast!  The crew included Noel Jean, field producer, Dave Stone, filmmaker, Carlos Soto, production assistant, and Danielle Valiente, hair/makeup.  Everyone was so wonderful to work with and made me feel comfortable which is very important when filming.  The vibe on the set is major in my opinion.  Noel was a wonderful, friendly director and Dave and Carlos were very kind and funny!  And for Danielle, I want her to do my makeup and hair everyday.  Seriously.  I need her.  For the interview portion, the crew along with lights and camera equipment all had to squeeze into my closet; luckily it's a walk in.  haha  For the outfit footage, we shot at popular spots around my hometown, including the "Art for All" mural downtown, Courthouse Square, and Watson Lake.  Below are some behind the scenes photos.  Enjoy!   Xoxo, Shelly

My Style: "O" My Gosh

Today's Look:  highlights The Home T's new tee design, which has the silhouette of the state of your choice inside the "o" of  the graphic printed "home".   The Home T was designed for two purposes—to show home-state pride and to donate to multiple sclerosis research.  I'm proud to wear a t-shirt showing my Arizona state pride but I'm even happier to know that a portion of all profits goes to finding a cure for MS.  To see my other Home T collaboration post click here.  To add edginess to this particular styling, I found this amazing ombré leather jacket.  As you probably already know, burgundy and black are my favorite duo; with the jacket, it was love at first sight.  Adding a warm beanie, black skinny jeans, and my fav chunky ankle boots, I felt just a few rings and my black cutout lace sunglasses made the outfit ready to kick it downtown.  Xoxo, Shelly

My Style: Kiss My Creepers

Today's Look: is about keeping it real.  A girl can't go wrong with black, shredded skinny jeans, studded black platform creepers, a sequined crop top, and a vintage denim jacket.  "Hey now, hey now, this is what dreams are made of . . . . "  (Yes, I did just quote Lizzie McGuire.)  Taking a beautiful sequined top and combining it with some urban street style elements adds some edge to beauty and you know I adore that combo.  Next, I tried a new hairstyle to spice things up.  I rarely fuss with my hair, but I always like trying new things.  I got the idea from Miley's bun obsession--it's contagious. Lastly, I accessorized with my usual favorites and enjoyed wearing a new ring and bracelet set.  Check out BKLYN Jewels for some unique, fresh jewelry designs.  Xoxo, Shelly

Fashion Tip:  I used to be conservative when it came to my jewelry--not more than one ring per hand and tiny, delicate bands and stones.  Now, I've learned how variety and mixin' it up can be soooo fleek.  haha  Ok, I just had to say "fleek" because someone used it in a comment on one of my latest posts and I had to look up the slang term on Urban Dictionary.  It means on point or cool.  Learn something new everyday.

My Style: Too Cool for School

Today's Look: is about looking hella sleek and feeling totally comfortable.  For the sleek appeal, you really can't beat the combo of burgundy and black (my fav).  I balanced the colors by wearing a burgundy fedora and burgundy boots with black on black in between.  I'm loving the lace top--luxurious with soft lining and intricate lace detailing from Little Mistress out of London.  For comfort, nothing beats the stretch of jeggings and the support of combat boots.  The soft faux-leather bag is from one of my favorite accessory design companies T-Shirt & Jeans.  Lastly, I couldn't resist adding a new pendant necklace from Kisstletoe.  I love the antique look and boho spirit of a glass globe filled with real mistletoe. Kisstletoe's tagline is "For the Kiss You Don't Want to Miss!" and how fun is that?!  Totes :)  Plus the company is generous and donates to the Malala Fund for the empowerment of girls.  Awesome cause!  Overall, you know you will love an outfit if you adore every separate piece in it.  Xoxo, Shelly

Fashion Tip:  Try mixing genres to create your own unique look and style.  For this outfit, I mixed Victorian (with the lace top and antiqued mistletoe necklace) and grunge (with skinny jeans and chunky boots).
