My Style: Funky Town

Today's Look:  was perfect for a summer day in Cali.  When I first saw this tribal-printed challis fabric jumpsuit, I thought of the 1970’s free-spirit fashions and vacation fun.  So when I began styling the piece, I wanted to showcase those characteristics.  The first accessory, that I knew would complement the jumpsuit, was the sunglasses.  Once I put those sunglasses on with the one-piece, I decided to channel my inner disco dancing queen.  Next, I chose the cutout wedges, which remind me of platforms that they would have worn back in the 70s but with an update of course.  For jewelry, I went more boho to bring out the relaxed silhouette of the wide leg pants.   I wore rustic silver with turquoise detailing necklace and ring, along with a wooden bracelet.  I truly had a blast wearing this outfit and I can’t wait for my next opportunity to rock this jumpsuit.  Hope you all had a wonderful Father’s Day weekend.  Xoxo, Shelly

Favorite Summer Trend: Rompers

Now that summer vacation has started and the weather is heating up, I can't help but NOT miss winter AT ALL.  I am so ready for blue skies, sunny days, and beach trips (to CA)!  Also, I am so ready to rock flip-flops, sunglasses, and, most of all, rompers!  This summer I am totally obsessed with rompers.  With a comfy fit, bright prints, and feminine vibe, how can anyone not love them?!  Below, I attached some of my favorites from CharlotteRusse.com.  Which one is your fave?  Honestly, I can't decide!  Xoxo, Shelly

My Style: Timber

Today's Look:  is named after one of the catchiest songs out right now, "Timber" by Pitbull ft. Ke$ha.  This look was inspired by the staple piece, the belted sweater dress from Poof Apparel.  The dress is so soft and warm, while the belt is a beautifully braided brown that compliments the taupe.  I love how the dress fits like a glove and is such great quality.  When it arrived, I started styling it in my head right away.  To create a complete winter outfit, I styled the dress with my favorite southwest-inspired fringe cardigan and brown, heeled boots.  The boots and belt matched perfectly.  I accessorized with a vintage hiker's hat that my Great Uncle Terry used to wear in the 1970s.  I finished off the outfit with black opaque tights, tarnished-gold drop earrings, and two tarnished-gold rings.

Fashion Tip:  When wearing a short dress in the winter, a coat, sweater, or cardigan are a must.  When styling the two together, matching the lengths of the pieces helps create a finished and fabulous look!

My Style: Birthday Girl

Today's Look:  celebrates color and fun in honor of my 20th birthday.  For the special occasion, I wanted something cute and edgy while of course involving pink (my favorite color). To start the look off, I chose the comic-book inspired tank top which features an array of colors that really stand out.  Since the tank top has cut-outs in the back and open-arms,  I wore a black cami underneath for coverage.  Next, I chose colorful platform heels that have a whimsical Aztec pattern, including an array of colors that match the tank top.  Trying to create contrast to the bold, bright top and shoes, I chose to go with loose, boyfriend jeans that I rolled up at the ankles.  It took me awhile to find the perfect pair, because often times boyfriend jeans aren't flattering.  So, instead of buying just any boyfriend pants, I chose a brand I like (Rock Revival) and bought a size bigger than I normally would in a low-cut, straight-legged pair. Finishing off the look, I chose a pink clutch, pink crystal stud earrings, an exotic bracelet, and two rings.

Fashion Tip:  Boyfriend pants paired with strappy stilettos, pointy heels, or platform pumps creates a chic-tomboy look.

My Style: Aztec Cut-Out Dress

Today's Look:  is all about the light purple, Aztec-inspired dress.  The dress is covered in an intricate design and includes cut-outs on the back.  To start the look off, I chose to compliment the black detailing on the dress by wearing my black, studded creeper shoes and backpack.  Next, to continue adding edge to a sweet, summer dress, I chose to accessorize with my black, spiked headband and bracelet, along with skull earrings..  Finishing off the look,  I chose to finish with a dash of charm by adding a heart pendant necklace, three rings, and a silver, bedazzled watch.

Outfit Details:  Dress courtesy of Charlotte Russe  ❤,  Shoes by Wild Diva at urbanog.com, Backpack by Pink at Victoria's Secret (Prescott, Arizona), Headband from Claire's (Tucson, Arizona),  Necklace from Forever 21 (Scottsdale, Arizona), Watch from Charming Charlie's (Tucson, Arizona), Rings from Aeropostale (Tucson, Arizona), Earrings by Wet Seal at Blink (Anaheim, California).

Fashion Tip:  When wearing an Aztec-inspired dress, rather than wearing other patterns within the outfit and causing congestion, accessorize the outfit with solid colors that accentuate the dress.

Below, I included a selection of Aztec-inspired dresses and accessories.

My Style: Camo Cutie

Today's Look:  is all about the current trend of Aztec-inspired clothing with bold, sharp designs and camouflage print that adds a tomboyish flare.  To start the outfit off, I picked out my high-waisted, camo shorts, and off-white Aztec tank.  The tank is not a crop top, so to show off the high cut of the shorts, I tucked in the top just enough to shorten its appearance, but still let it keep its loose fit.  To match the black-inked Aztec artwork, I wore black sandals and a black, fringed purse.  Finishing off the look, I wore a cross necklace, diamond-shaped chain earrings, two rings, and curled my hair to add a feminine touch.

Outfit Details:  Top and Shorts by Forever 21 at Forever 21 (Tucson, Arizona), Cami by Express at Express (Tucson, Arizona), Shoes by Montego Bay Club at Payless (Prescott, Arizona), Purse by American Eagle at ae.com, Necklace by Aeropostale (Tucson, Arizona), Earrings at Target (Prescott, Arizona).

Fashion Tip:  When wearing camo for fashion purposes, don't match the camouflage printed item with another green piece of clothing.  The end result looks too military or like hunting gear.  I included some camo selections below along with their links.
