Style Crush Saturday: Kim Kardashian

Style Crush:  Kim Kardashian
Known For:  TV Personality, Modeling
Style:  Chic, Sexy, Glamorous, Feminine

This week's Style Crush is the curvaceous Kim Kardashian.  Kim is an American reality TV star alongside her family on E!'s hit show Keeping Up with the Kardashians, as well as the spin offs Kourtney and Kim Take New York, and Kourtney and Kim Take Miami.  Born and raised in LA, Kim first got into the public eye by befriending Paris Hilton, an infamous socialite.  Making her own way to fame, Kim released an intimate video, with her then boyfriend, which helped make her a household name.  Now, Kim dabbles in fashion design with the Kardashian Kollection exclusively at Sears, modeling for magazines, such as Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, and Glamour, and acting on shows and movies like CSI: NY, Drop Dead Diva, and Temptation:  Confessions of a Marriage Counselor.

Kim is not only a working woman, but she is also very family oriented.  Acting alongside her siblings Kourtney, Khloe, Robb, Kendall, Kylie and her parents Kris and (stepfather) Bruce, Kim has a strong family bond.  Recently, Kim has added some additions to her family unit, giving birth to baby North on June 15, 2013, and getting engaged to Kanye West this past October.  Although this will be Kim's third marriage, she seems truly happy and in love.  The couple shares a strong passion for fashion, often times wearing coordinating apparel, taking each other's advice, and rumor has it, the pair has a secret collaboration on a baby clothing line in the works.  In addition to designing, Kim is known for her impeccable fashion sense.  Loving Kim's city chic style, I always gain ideas and inspiration from each outfit.  I, for one, cannot wait to see more of her fashion designs and styles.  Her wedding with Kayne will for sure be one to remember--the ring alone is 15 carats; you can only imagine how beautiful her dress will be!

My Style: My Chick Bad

Today's Look:  channels influences from street-style casual and hip-hop edge.  For this look, I wanted something tough but feminine.  First, I chose the varsity jacket.  What I love about this jacket is the body is dark denim, while the sleeves are black sweatshirt material.  Since the jacket's collar and cuffs are striped black and white, I decided to style the rest of the outfit accordingly. Next, I chose a white crop-top featuring a yin-yang symbol and high-waisted denim shorts.  To add attitude, I wore a black trucker hat that says "Shell Ya" and bedazzled aviators.  Finishing off the look, I chose a white studded backpack, white Keds, black studs, three rings, and a black-jeweled bracelet.

Outfit Details:   Jacket c/o Charlotte Russe , Shorts by Good Time at urbanog.com, Crop-Top by Nollie at PacSun (Tucson, Arizona), Shoes by Keds at Dillard's (Presscott, Arizona), Backpack from riverisland.comHat by Billabong at Tilly's (Tucson, Arizona), Sunglasses at Foot Fetish (Prescott, Arizona), Rings and Earrings from Aeropostale (Tucson, Arizona), Bracelet was a gift.

Fashion Tip:  Varsity jackets are great for adding a sporty edge to an outfit.

My Style: How to Rock High-Heeled Ankle Boots

Today's Look:  is all about the camouflage ankle boots.  I have been wanting a pair of high-heeled ankle boots for awhile, but I never found the perfect ones until I saw these.  I love the coloring, the design, and how they're edgy but not overbearing.  To start the look off, I chose my lace-up boots, green skinny jeans, and embellished gray top.  I chose the From NY to L.A. top because I wanted something with writing, but not too much design so it wouldn't take away from the shoes.  Next, I chose my double pendant necklace and big silver hoop earrings.  Finishing off the look, I wore a silver watch, two rings, a gray and black headband, and my black fringe purse.

It has been debated about who came up with the heeled ankle boot design first and who did it better.  The top two contestants are Jeffrey Campbell and Steve Madden.  These two top shoe designers went to battle.  Jeffrey Campbell even went as far as to sue Steve Madden for allegedly copying his design.  Personally, I love both brands and both designs.  I would love to hear what you think.  Feel free to leave a comment!   Work cited and more information about the case found here.

Outfit Details:  Top at American Eagle (Tucson, Arizona),  Pants by Bullhead Denim Co. at PacSun (Tucson, Arizona), Shoes by Qupid at Charlotte Russe (Tucson, Arizona), Purse by American Eagle at ae.com, Headband at Claire's (Prescott, Arizona), Necklace and Earrings by Lucky Brand at Dillard's (Prescott, Arizona), Watch at Charming Charlie's (Tucson, Arizona).

Fashion Tip:  I know I have said when wearing camo clothing don't pair the camo piece with green, but with shoes it's different.  Camo shoes are rare and work very well with green articles of clothing without looking too army-ish.

Trend Alert:  High-heeled Ankle Boots!  Below, I included a collage of high-heeled ankle boots and a link to them.

My Style: Skullduggery

Today's Look:  includes glitter, fringe, diagonal hems, and, most importantly, skulls.  Feminine skulls are a major trend that can be found in stores, on celebrities, etc.  Thanks to popular designers, such as Betsey Johnson and Alexander McQueen, skulls have come into style and trickled down from the flashy, high-end runway pieces to mainstream, everyday fashion.  To start the look off, I chose to be a little Goth and wear my black, diagonally hemmed skull dress.  I love this dress because it is comfortable, uniquely cut, and edgy.  I also love that the skull design is girly with swirls, flowers, and hearts. Matching the gray coloring of the skull, I wore silver sandals and jewelry.  Finishing off the look, I wore a black fringe purse, galaxy-looking nail polish, and chain-link, black-rimmed sunglasses.

Outfit Details:  Dress by AnM at Foot Fetish (Prescott, Arizona), Purse by American Eagle at ae.com, Sandals by Montego Bay Club at Payless (Prescott, Arizona), Stone Ring at Disney Vault 28 (Anaheim, California), Sunglasses by Wet Seal at Blink (Anaheim, California), Nail Polish called Hue Brighten My Day by Finger Paints at Sally's (Prescott, Arizona), Bracelet was a gift.

Fashion Tip:  Don't be afraid to wear skulls.  I know some people are still old fashioned, therefore thinking skulls are bad or rebellious, but in the fashion world's eyes they are in and fabulous.  Below,  I hand selected some cute skull items and included their links.  Enjoy!
