My Style: Shake Your Pom Poms Part 2

Today's Look: continues to celebrate this season's hot pom pom trend.  These shorts, from the awesome company Missguided, are the perfect blend of quality and style.  They are lined, soft, and comfortable.  The floral monochrome print with pom pom detail creates an eye-catching design.  To style the shorts, I added a fitted, classic black crop top and a bold, statement necklace, carrying through the circular theme.  Sometimes using a similar geometric shape throughout the styling creates a cohesive outfit.  Circles can also be found in the leather studded bracelet and the round sunnies.  To complete the look with some edginess (edgy and fun are always the two things I keep in mind while styling), I wore the Campus Queen black platform booties by Dirty Laundry.  These kicks are a good value and comfortable.  If you've been reading my blog for awhile, you have a pretty good idea that I adore shoes.  Let me know about your favorite shoe brands and styles; I love everything about shoes and probably should have named my blog Arizona Girl Obsessed with Shoes :)  Jk.  That's way too long.  Hey, to see part one of the pom pom trend/collaboration with Missguided, see my post from July 15th.  Anyway, tomorrow I'm off to Scottsdale for my first fitting for my bridesmaid dress (for my brother's wedding).  Wish me luck (and that the dress isn't awful like most bridesmaid dresses are notorious for being!)  Xoxo, Shelly

Beauty Tip:  A matte on black gloss French manicure is the current "it" mani; classy with an equal amount of edgy.  Try it now by watching a tutorial I found on YouTube here!  Or as many bloggers have discovered, use stick-on or glue-on nail kits that have improved in recent years.  They look great and are easy to apply.

My Style: Don't Go Chasing Waterfalls

Today’s Look:  was photographed in front of an 80 foot waterfall that is part of a nature trail at the luxurious Loew’s Ventanna Canyon Resort in Tucson, Arizona.  Every summer my family and I enjoy staying here and experiencing all that Tucson has to offer.  From delicious food at local restaurants to glamorous scenery and fabulous shopping, it's a trip I always enjoy.  This year was also special because I visited one of my favorite stores that just opened a location in Tucson, Immediate Fashion Company.  I took pictures of the visit and definitely scored some amazing goodies that I can't wait to share!  This crop-top is from Immediate and was the starting piece of today's look.  I love the vibrant sunflower print and cut of the top; so to complement the focal point, I paired the top with a simple black skater skirt and pair of black platform booties. Accessorizing, I chose a thick, gold chain necklace and cut-out metal lace rimmed sunglasses in gold amber. To bring out more of the browns in the sunflowers, I chose a fun phone case in brown with tan polka dots. To top it off, these photos were taken in between monsoon rain showers in 106 degree weather—soooooo I apologize if I look a little wrecked.  Please let me know your secret for fabulous hair during the hot, humid summers or hairstyles that you recommend.  I would love to hear your thoughts :) Xoxo, Shelly

Beauty Tip:  On a humid, hot day, a side braid is the perfect solution to unruly hair.  Also, for monsoon season here in AZ, it's a must!

Featured Fashionista: Bianca Lara "A Hint of Mint"

Today's Look:  is very special!  For some fashion fun, I teamed up with one of my favorite stores, Charlotte Russe, and one of my favorite fashionistas/soon-to-be-sister-in-law, Bianca Lara, to showcase some of CR's hottest heels.  Being a fashion blogger, I tend to pass on my passion for fashion to others, which I adore doing!  Charlotte Russe also loves to spread the joy of fashion, so we couldn't wait to send two pairs of killer heels Bianca's way, one multicolored animal print and one splatter paint. Bianca wore the fabulous platform pumps today, styling them to perfection.  Bianca also decided to pull out her essential item for spring, a mint-colored flowing top which complimented the shoes beautifully.  The pattern of the shoes is so colorful that she was inspired to style the leopard print heels with black, faux-leather leggings and tousled, ombré hair.  Adding sweet finishing touches, Bianca wore dark, pink lipstick (matching the pink in the shoes) and silver jewelry for some sparkle.  Be sure to keep an eye out for more posts featuring Bianca coming your way soon on Arizona Girl!  Xoxo

Bianca's Fashion Tip:  You can look great and feel comfortable.  Beauty doesn't always have to be painful. Like these leggings, they are sexy, chic, AND comfy.

My Style: One of Those Days

Today's Look: is monochromatic and grungy-chic, styled for the last few chilly weeks of winter and the last few days of school until break.  First, I chose the soft and cozy sweater, perfect for a long day of classes.  I especially like this Charlotte Russe sweater for its unique light gray and black stripe design.  The stripes are big and flattering while the material is soft and comfy.  Next, I chose light gray skinny jeans and black combat boots, both great for keeping warm and walking across campus.  I wanted the blacks in the look separated yet unified.  For outerwear, I wore a black (without the) leather jacket and knitted beanie.  Finishing off the look, I accessorized with funky round shades, a beautiful charm necklace, and three fabulous rings. Spring break is next week and I CANNOT wait.  I'm so ready to sleep, sleep, AND sleep.  :)

Outfit Details:  Sweater & Boots courtesy of Charlotte Russe , Jacket & Jeans by Express at express.com, Beanie & Glasses at urbanog.com, Necklace by Buckle at Buckle (Prescott, Arizona), Earrings by Destine Austrian Crystal at Sally Beauty Supply (Prescott, Arizona), Black Crystal Ring at Earthbound Trading Co. (Flagstaff, Arizona), Cross Ring by Forever 21 at forever21.com, Impress Nails at Walgreens (Prescott, Arizona), Chain Midi-Ring was a gift.

Fashion Tip:  For an ever classic too-cool-for-school look, a leather jacket and pair of combat boots will always be soulmates; they are the perfect pair to add edge and style to any outfit.

My Style: Mustang Sally

Today's Look:  includes a knitted horse print sweater, denim short overalls, knee highs, and cut-out ankle boots.  It was a warm, sunny winter's day, so I thought it would be fun to wear shorts with thigh-high socks.  To start the look off, I chose the cut-off overalls and horse print sweater.  Since I've grown up in Arizona, I'm used to cowboys, ranchers, and farmers.  I, however, am allergic to animals and a city girl at heart, so with this outfit I had fun wearing overalls and horses since it's about as close as I will ever get to being a cowgirl.  To match the sweater, I chose thick, knitted, thigh-high socks and chunky ankle boots.  Finishing off the look, I wore heart-shaped, peace sign, dangle earrings, round sunglasses, two rings, and a black studded backpack.

Outfit Details:  Sweater c/o Charlotte Russe , Overalls by Hippie Laundry at Tilly's (Tucson, Arizona), Thigh-Highs at Basement Marketplace (Flagstaff, Arizona), Ankle-Boots by Steve Madden at 6pm.com, Backpack by PINK at Victoria's Secret (Prescott, Arizona), Earrings & Black Band Ring at Earthbound Trading Co. (Flagstaff, Arizona), Sunglasses at urbanog.com, Silver Multi Ring from Forever 21 (Scottsdale, Arizona).

Fashion Tip:  Overalls have been around since the 1700s with most worn by workmen, but these days cut-off overalls or "shortalls" are a modern twist on the old classic. Definitely sexy, tomboy chic!
