Red Carpet Fashion: MTV EMAs 2013

On Sunday, November 10, 2013, MTV held its annual Europe Music Awards (EMAs) to pay respect to the hottest celebrities with the best music videos.  This year, the red carpet got steamy with major stars looking fabulous.  Check out the looks below.

On a side note, while looking through the photos of Sunday night's event, a few of the stars' outfits reminded me of the one-and-only Rihanna.  Although Rihanna did not attend this year's MTV EMAs, there is no denying her influence on the fashion that was showcased throughout the awards.  Props to RiRi and her stylists, including Mel Ottenberg.

Halloween Special: The Miley Look

The Miley Look:  Need inspiration for a cute, edgy, and trendy Halloween costume?  Stand out by rocking the Miley look.  Inspired by her hit music video "We Can't Stop" outfit, you'll be sure to have the hottest costume every girl will wish they had worn.

What You Need:  To pull off Miley's cute, rebellious look, first, you need a white crop top featuring the words "WEST COAST" (you can always improvise by using material puff paint or ironing letters onto a plain crop top).  Next, a pair of white short shorts, suspenders (white preferably but black works also), and silver heels.  To get her sassy flare, wear multiple necklaces (she wore one "M" pendant and one key pendant necklace), cat-eye sunglasses (she wore silver and pink throughout the video, but any color works), and bright red lipstick. Also, make sure to wear your hair pulled back and up and accessorized with a black bandanna.  Giving the costume the perfect finishing touches, have fun stacking bracelets, getting your nails done, wearing multiple rings, and edgy earrings.  An optional piece to the ensemble is a teddy bear backpack.  I think it adds some humor to the outfit while staying true to the video.  Here is the link to the above costume items.

My Style: Dr. Martens Special

Today's Look:  has multiple statement pieces, from the velvet-tiger sweatshirt, spiked backpack, white Dr. Martens, to the "Fearless" charm bracelet.  Today's outfit is special, because my brother, who is a professional photographer and videographer, is in town visiting.  He was the photographer of today's photo-shoot.  To start the look off, I chose my light gray, embellished sweatshirt and white-washed, charcoal skinny jeans.  Next, I chose my white leather boots, spiked backpack, and white/black, charm bracelet.  Since the outfit is edgy, I wore my hair in loose curls to soften the look.  Finishing off the outfit, I wore three rings, black stud earrings, and cat-eye sunglasses.

Fashion Tip:  If you're in the United States and considering buying Dr. Martens, it's somewhat of an ordeal.  Not only is it difficult to decide what color to pick, but it is also difficult to figure out what size to buy.  Dr. Martens come in so many different shapes, colors, and patterns, and only are sold in U.K. whole sizes. Even though so many funky options are out there, when buying Dr. Martens, I recommend going with a solid color in the classic cut.  I'd say red and black are the two most popular colors of the brand.  Now, with which shoe size to buy, it can be tricky.  I researched the comparisons of U.K. sizes to U.S. and came to the conclusion that the U.K. sizes are one below the U.S. sizes.  Therefore meaning, a U.K. 7 is equal to a  U.S. 8.  I am a 6-6.5 so I bought a U.K. 5 and it fits great.  Even if you order your boots online, I definitely recommend going into a local store to try on a pair, making sure you like the fit.

My Style: Holy Chic

Today's Look:  is all about the creeper shoes.  Creeper shoes have been appearing more and more on celebrities, bloggers, and in stores.  To start the look off, I chose my "Holy Chic" tank top and high-waisted, denim cut-offs.  Since I normally wear black socks with my creepers, I thought I would change it up by wearing sheer black tights. To match the black suede shoes, I wore a black fringed purse.  Finishing off the look, I wore a metallic bracelet, round sunglasses, two rings, and dangle cross earrings.

Miley Cyrus is an American actress and singer who came to fame in 2006 for her most famous role of Hannah Montana on Disney Channel.  Since her Disney days, Miley has grown from a charming girl to a sensual woman, becoming one of the most successful artists to come out of the Disney machine.  Miley has starred in multiple blockbuster movies, such as Hannah Montana: The Movie and Last Song, and has six Top 10 Billboard hits including "Party in the USA," "The Climb," and "Can't be Tamed."  Miley is set to release her fourth studio album later this year, which includes her current number 1 hit single "We Can't Stop."

Even though many have tried to label Miley as a "Disney Darling," she has done everything in her power to obliterate the mundane expectations.  Miley's outgoing personality and wild style have continued to evolve rapidly through her years of stardom.  Since she was born and raised in Nashville, most expected the typical cowgirl boots and country twang to be Miley's niche, but since her time in Hollywood, she is anything but.  From cute and innocent to daring and rebellious, she continues to leave viewers in shock and awe.
