My Style: Champagne for Breakfast

Today's Look:  is all about mixing comfort with style.  Nothing beats a comfy sweatshirt, a pair of stretch leggings, and cushioned wedge sneakers for walking around campus or shopping in the city.  For spring 2014, colors are exploding in nature and on the runways.  Be bold and confident with your styling like this whimsical sweatshirt that boasts of "Champagne for Breakfast."  Besides sweatshirts, leggings are ideal for spring days in northern Arizona, where we are loving the breezy, cool days with the blooming flowers and budding trees everywhere.  Tribal print is still one of the biggest hits this season, so these leggings are perfect.  Next, I recommend trying to match your shoes with your purse as much as possible for a cohesive look; here my tan/taupe wedges match the fringe bag.  If you don't own a bohemian-inspired fringe purse yet, you haven't lived. haha  Speaking of boho style, most of us living in the states dream of attending Coachella and mingling with the famous stars and models, listening to hipster music, and wearing our 60's & 70's inspired clothing.  Thus, a fringe purse is a styling must :)  If you get to attend Coachella this year, I'd love to hear about it.  I'd go just to hear Ellie Goulding, Lana Del Rey, Foster the People, and Lorde.  What an amazing line up!

Fashion Tip: As stated above, trying to match your purse with your shoes can add a "put-together" appeal to your ensemble.  Of course, plenty of times my purse and shoes don't match because I try to have the purse highlight a different color from my outfit.  C'est la vie!

My Style: Winter Wonderland

Today's Look:  channels the childhood character Little Red Riding Hood with a modern twist.   Consisting of mountains covered in pine trees, northern Arizona becomes truly beautiful under a blanket of snow.  Yes, the temperature is freezing, but the scenery is breathtaking.  Inspired by the dark, snow covered woods, I first chose a flowing, long-sleeved maroon top, tan and black, aztec-design leggings, and black combat boots.  Next, I chose a black with white skulls and crowns scarf to add contrast, as well as edge (we all know the story of Little Red Riding Hood wasn't a bright and happy one).  Next, I chose the shearling coat for warmth and irony (normally shearling coats are made out of sheepskin, which pays tribute to the wolf in the story).  Finishing off the look, I wore dark lipstick for dramatic effect, dangling skull earrings to match the scarf, and two rings for good measure.

Outfit Details:  Boots & Leggings c/o Charlotte Russe , Coat by Cherokee at Target (Prescott, Arizona), Top by Lani California at Sage Brush Trading Co. (Flagstaff, Arizona), Scarf by Nollia at Fancy That (Prescott, Arizona), Earrings from Earth Bound Trading Co. (Flagstaff, Arizona), White Stone Ring at nastygal.com, Faith Ring from Premiere Designs.

Fashion Tip:  Shearling coats are not only warm, but they're also trendy.  Great for making a winter outfit fashionable.

My Style: How to Rock a Sweater Dress

Today's Look:  is on how to rock a sweater dress or oversized sweater this fall.  A sweater dress is most flattering with thick tights or warm leggings paired with boots.  Oversized sweaters look great with leggings, as well as jeggings, or skinny jeans with boots or high top sneakers.  To start the look off, I first chose my tan sweater dress and ombre burgundy and olive scarf.  Since the sweater is loose-knit, I wore a black undershirt.  Because it was a chilly day, tights wouldn't be warm enough, so I went with fleece-lined, black leggings and tall, leather boots.  To match the coloring of the scarf, sweater, and boots as well as pull everything together, I wore a colorful side-sling purse.  Finishing off the look, I chose big, tarnished silver hoops, two rings, and a black, spiked headband.

Outfit Details:  Sweater by Miracle City at Shoes & Such Boutique (Flagstaff, Arizona), Leggings by Mopas at Basement Marketplace (Flagstaff, Arizona), Boots by Steve Madden at stevemadden.com, Bag by Rising International at a beach shop (San Diego, California), Scarf from Shoes & Such Boutique, Earrings by Lucky Brand at Dillard's (Prescott, Arizona), Headband from Claire's (Tucson, Arizona) Heart Ring at Dillard's, Faith Ring from Premiere Designs Jewelry.

Fashion Tip:  Since sweater dresses and baggy sweaters aren't made for the purpose of flattering the body, wearing a form-fitting bottom piece of clothing, like opaque tights, leggings, or skinny jeans, makes the outfit warm and cute, as well as flattering.

A fall outfit formula can be as simple as sweater + leggings + boots to equal fabulous.
