My Style: Back to Reality

Today's Look:  is all about enjoying a beautiful spring day.  I started the outfit by thinking of what to wear around town on a sunny, breezy day and the transition from festival wear to street style.  Now that Coachella is over, city slickers and suburbanites must go back to their day-to-day lives, leaving their boho-decked out selves behind.  I personally love both festival and street style, so I decided to make a look that transforms into each, wearing a bright pink crop-top and black, shredded cut-offs and styling them a little differently.  For the festival look, I wore a floral headband that I made and it was meant to be because it matched this beautiful Ali & Kris pullover to a T.  For the street style,  I put on the pullover and removed the floral crown.  Simple yet effective changes transform the look.  Of course, I had to add some edginess by wearing black, cut-out ankle boots and black galaxy nails.  Now, one of my personal styling philosophies is that a girl's phone should always be as fabulously dressed as she is.  For the perfect finishing touch, I turned my iPhone into a fashion accessory with a beautiful "Mini Dot Pink" case by Clique Fashion Case & Skin Boutique.  Hope you all had a wonderful Easter!  Xoxo, Shelly

Fashion Tip:  This spring, enjoy mixing different shades of one color.  In this look I had fun with different pinks throughout.  It makes a simple outfit more exciting!

My Style: Orange Crush

Today's Look:  is still about Coachella dreamin’.   The headlines are stating that Beyoncé and Gwen Stefani graced the stages at Coachella as a special surprise for attendees.  Well, if I can’t be there, at least I can still dress up and have fun like I'm at the music festival.  To begin, I chose a tribal patterned, swing crop top that matched my white-washed orange shorts.  Adding a little more of a 1970's feel, I wore woven stacked friendship bracelets and a crocheted purse. To stay protected from the sun, I wore a wide-brimmed hat and colorful, mirrored sunglasses featuring shades of orange and pink.  The gladiator sandals by Lucky Brand created a perfect last boho detail.  Obviously, I've been a little obsessed with Coachella and all the fashion trends that are created at the two weekend event--next year, I'm hoping to get a group together and go crazy :)  I better start saving up now...  Xoxo, Shelly

Fashion Tip:  On a sunny, warm day, a black, wide-brim hat not only adds style to an outfit, but also provides protection from the sun--perfect for long days out at festivals.

My Style: Free Spirit

Today's Look: is festival chic, inspired by one of my style icons Vanessa Hudgens, and fun for the hot summer days approaching.  To get this look, I started with the tribal jacquard cage-back crop top in black, beige, and taupe and denim cut-offs.  I just had to add a floral headband, cut-out ankle boots, and a crocheted vest.  Adding the perfect finishing touches, I accessorized with infinity earrings, a studded leather bracelet and belt, and tarnished metal rings.  To get an idea of what bloggers go through, I have a story for you, my loyal readers.  For this shoot in particular, I knew I wanted lush green trees, mother earth vibes, and of course, beautiful lighting.  My photographer and I set out searching for a great spot.  We had to hike through a field, down a steep slope, and through (not past but through) numerous shrubs to get to this location--I saw the logs from the highway and thought it would be an awesome setting.  Although the area looked stunning in the pictures, during the photo shoot I felt like I was under attack; I had to ward off ants, bees, rodents (at least I think I heard a few scurry away in the bushes), and scratchy branches.  Luckily, we survived the wilderness and got some great pictures which made it worth the work.  When I got a chance to look at the photos that night, there was a spot on the back of my top in one of the photos.  I zoomed in and it was a ginormous bee just hanging out, chilling on my back!  I'm very allergic to bees and very thankful I wasn't aware of its presence and that it didn't sting me.  Goodness...the things we bloggers go through for that perfect shot.  Anyway, that's my dramatic story. haha  Hope you're all having a wonderful week.  Xoxo, Shelly

My Style: Boho Grunge

Today's Look:  is about exploring the darker side of boho chic.  I selected a relaxed dress in black with a grey panel inset.  To add more life to the dark hues of the dress, I accessorized with bright peacock feather earrings, jeweled rings, a skull-shaped beaded necklace, a crystal pendant, and colorful friendship bracelets.  To integrate more of a grunge feel, I added a wide-brimmed black hat and distressed combat boots.  Remember life is too short to wear boring clothes.  Have fun mixing up styles, colors, and looks.  My style is definitely eclectic and trendy which keeps life more exciting.  It's always a great time to try a new style :)

My Style: Jungle Festival

Today's Look:  blends the wonder of the Coachella Valley Arts & Music Festival with the beauty of an Ali & Kris jungle-print blouse.  I styled the Coachella Festival look from head to toe, including a rosebud headband, fringe purse, burgundy cut-offs, and cut-out ankle boots.  This look is inspired by a combination of a 1960's flower-child hippie along with the current trend of jungle/animal print.  By the way, I wanted to thank you all for reading my blog and giving me amazing support over the past year.  Today is the one year anniversary of my blog!  Arizona Girl is officially one.  If you look at my first posts, the photos were taken using an iPhone 4 and in my backyard or in front of my garage.  I like to think I've come a long way.  You'll still see my back deck from time to time, but I hope my photographers will continue to use their Nikon and Cannon cameras for lighting adjustments and that I have time to drive to different locations for variety.  You all rock and thank you for a great year!  Xoxo, Shelly
