Style Crush Saturday: Ian Somerhalder

Style Crush:  Ian Somerhalder
Known For:  Acting, Modeling
Style:  Sleek, Minimalist, Dark, Hipster

This week's Style Crush is the irresistible Ian Somerhalder.  Ian is an American actor and model who has risen as a major heartthrob by starring on The CW's The Vampire Diaries, playing the dark, mysterious Damon Salvatore.  Ian went into modeling when he was only 10 years old and decided to pursue acting when he was 17.  He threw himself completely into the craft by studying to be an actor in New York.  Clearly destined to become an actor, Ian was singled out of 400 extras on set by a visiting talent manager and signed on the spot.  His impressive modeling résumé includes campaigns for Calvin Klein, Dolce & Gabanna, Gucci, Versace, and Guess, while his acting career includes a well-loved recurring role on the show Lost and his current role on The Vampire Diaries.  Being a serious actor, Ian has won over 12 major awards for his performances.

Named one of the Sexiest Men by Glamour Magazine, no one can deny he's dreamy.  With his chiseled bone structure and vibrant blue eyes, he's known for being a charmer.  Oddly enough, he has said that he doesn't like to discuss his modeling career because of  people thinking of him as being just another pretty face.  So not only is he gorgeous, he is also serious, passionate, and artistic.  Ian is very involved with promoting equal rights for all, protecting the planet and all its creatures.  Besides being an advocate for anti-bullying and a spokesperson for the prevention of suicide, he created the Ian Somerhalder Foundation in 2010 that aims to better the environment and protect animals.  He is also involved with It Gets Better Project (supporting LGBT) and St. Tammany Humane Society.  Known not only for his heart and good looks, Ian has  made an impression with his style.  His signature pieces include basic v-necks, boots, and fedoras.  He's mastered simplicity.  Making grunge and hipster look sleek, Ian is definitely a
